The position is located in the Buffalo Field Office, Buffalo, WY. The Buffalo Field Office manages 780,291 acres of public lands and 5.5 million acres of mineral estate within Campbell, Johnson and Sheridan counties in north-central Wyoming. These three counties are part of the Northern Great Plains and are rich in old west history. The area contains vast deposits of oil, gas, and coal, in addition to resources such as wildlife habitat and rangelands for livestock grazing. Direct Deposit Required
These duties are for the full performance level GS-11. If you are hired at a lower level than full performance GS-11, you will perform the duties under closer supervision and at a reduced level of responsibility and/or difficulty while receiving on-the-job and other appropriate training. At the GS-11 level, you will be responsible for a complex workload which will include providing support to oil and gas compliance monitoring including, field verification of seasonal restriction conditions of approvals (COAs), monitoring of mitigation measures, and assisting in monitoring wildlife populations to evaluate effects of energy development. You will also support other resource staff in the development of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents and field work. You will also provide support to the Rangeland Management program by conducting clearances related to grazing lease renewals, range improvements projects and rangeland health assessments.
The work is performed in the office and field locations. When working in the field, the duties may require walking over rough, uneven terrain, exposure to extreme temperatures, and will require that you operate a four-wheel drive vehicle on and off roads in isolated areas. This position has a positive educational requirement; therefore, you will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit ALL your college transcripts. All applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirement: A) A degree in biological science that included at least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; and at least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects (Excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to meet the zoology requirements where appropriate.); and at least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences. OR B) A combination of education and experience--equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Ability to work with resource specialists inside and outside of the organization to accomplish wildlife management objectives.

Ability to use computers, automated databases and GIS tools to communicate, document and accomplish the work of the position.

To qualify at the GS-7 level, applicants must meet the basic requirements AND have 1 year of professional wildlife biologist experience equivalent to the next lower level (GS-5) in the federal service OR have 1 year of graduate-level education in wildlife biology or meet the requirements for superior academic achievement (SAA) OR meet the basic requirement and have a combination of education and experience.
Examples of specialized experience At the GS-7 level are: assisting with vegetative management for habitat maintenance and improvement; wildlife and fisheries habitat management; contributing to habitat planning docuements.
To qualify for the GS-9 level applicants must meet the basic requirement AND have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal Service; OR have 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree; OR meet the basic requirement and have a combination of second year graduate education for a total of 1 year and professional experience.
Specialized experience for the GS-9 level is defined as: planning and conducting wildlife field inventories and monitoring studies interpreting data and assisting in preparing reports; recommending habitat management practices.
To qualify for the GS-11 level, applicants must meet the basic requirement AND have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 level in the Federal service; OR have completed 3 years of graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in wildlife biology or a directly related field; OR meet the basic education requirement and have a combination of professional experience and third year graduate level education for a total of 1 year.
For the GS-11 Level specialized experience is defined as: preparing wildlife portions of environmental assessments, analyze surface use proposals on Threatened and Endangered Species, planning and conducting wildlife field inventories and preparing wildlife management plans.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
